I read your concern about the Horror Revealed in My Life With Master.
What I found in my only run of MLWM was that the Horror Revealed wasn't a penalty. Yes, the player doesn't get to play his minion for a round, but he does get to describe the Horror scene. This is a great chance to for the player to to externalize his minion's internal horror and add an element or two to the environment. Think Trollbabe - sure you failed, but you get to decide the consequences.

Thanks for the comment. So that's what I couldn't get my head around with MLWM. Is it competitive (against the system) or not? The "horror revealed" either is or isn't a penalty depending on whether you're playing competitively. And half the game seems to imply competitiveness while the other half doesn't.
