Science:
Attack of the Gut-Monsters

Long ago, before there were people or bears or bees or worms, the living creatures lived in peace. They made their own food. These were primitive plants and algae that lived only in water.

Then came a new kind of living creature, one with a gut. It could draw water into itself, digest any food in the water, and excrete the waste out the other end. In a world full of defenseless plants, the gut was a winning strategy. Pretty soon, these selfish little killers were everywhere, evolved into a variety of phenotypes. The plants thought they were doomed, but prety soon these monsters started eating each other, too, and a balance was reached.

Who are the gut-monsters? Animals.
